WHO WE ARE

Farming is our family business. It’s in our blood. We spent almost 40 years learning the best way to build a plow. You might say that it’s in our sweat. Let us put that knowledge and determination to work in your field.

OUR HISTORY

We are a family business built on the values of innovation and quality. We are about as grassroots as a business can be, springing up in Western Kansas wheat-growing territory. It all started in March 1985, when my wife Darlene and I founded D.C. Welding in our home garage in Quinter, Kansas. I started by hard surfacing stubble treaders and grew to meet demand for “on farm” repair, relocating several times as we needed to expand. By 1991, we needed more space, we acquired the John Deere building at 200 Main Street in Quinter, Kansas. We still use that building today: it currently houses the paint department.

In 2009, we expanded into refurbishing sweep plows. Initially, we endured the extremes of western Kansas weather to work outside. We moved our new 10,800 square foot building at 301 Park Street, next door to the existing facility in January 2012. The Park Street building is where we currently assemble plows and home to a large inventory of parts.

Our oldest son, Justin, joined the family business in 2011 after moving back to Kansas from Pennsylvania. A year later, our youngest son, Tyrel, joined the business after graduating.

Farming is our family business. Premier Tillage is a rural American story. A family working hard together, building a successful faith filled business, helping the Premier Tillage families and customers reach their goals. Our products are built to last and assist in making the challenging work of farming a little easier.

“Combining years of experience, talent and workmanship to create a premier product. This is something I am pleased with. You are always welcome to come visit us.”

By 1991, we needed enough space that we bought the John Deere building at 200 Main Street in Quinter, Kansas. We still use that building today: it currently houses the paint booth and has been home base for many of the growing Premier Tillage family over the years.

In 2009, we expanded into refurbishing sweep plows. Initially, we braved the extremes of western Kansas weather to work outside but sure were glad when our nee facility was finished. We moved our new 10,800 square foot building at 301 Park Street next door to the existing facility in January 2012. The Park Street building is where we assemble plows. It’s also home to a large inventory of parts and sophisticated manufacturing equipment. We’d love to show you around sometime.

Farming is our family business, but we’re telling another story here, too. I think Premier Tillage is a classic story of the American dream: we work hard together, build a successful business, and help other families reach their dreams, too. Our products are built to last, and make the tough work of farming a little easier. That’s something I can be proud of.
